The Cavern Club, inspired by the Liverpool landmark, typically hosts Beatles tribute bands. However, we were told that one of the members of the group was sick, so the ship’s rock band mostly played this venue during our sailing. Still, the Cavern Club was packed with fellow cruisers rocking out to Royal Flush. With all the bells and whistles of new and refurbished ships, there are plenty of dining, entertainment and activities onboard for every type of cruiser. In the morning there is usually trivia or bingo, afternoon some fun family games, and in the evening some very talented shows. On an Alaskan Cruise where the majority of the cruise is about sightseeing, it can be nice to have a space all to yourself. Many of the top decks were packed with people and not everyone got a railing, so you had to interchange places so everyone could get some unobstructed photos and videos. If you did not receive your tickets and you booked through the cruise line, you can visit their excursion desk for more information. Or if you booked an excursion, they will have a separate shuttle to take you directly on your tour. There will usually be important information printed on your ticket about where to meet up.
Below I will include some of the best excursions offered at each port town. Cruise lines do prefer if you book through them so they can make sure you can safely and punctually get to your excursion and back to the ship. The main dining rooms (Azura & Tsar’s Palace) offered a nice casual-luxury feel. You could either dress nicer or keep it casual, which we appreciated.
If you are dining at one of the specialty restaurants aft on Deck 8, you won’t want to pass up the A-List Bar. This hidden gem is an upscale lounge with dark wood tones, oversized chairs, and a large U-shaped bar. Heidi’s favorite bar on Norwegian Encore is the Sugarcane Mojito Bar.
This outdoor space provided uninterrupted views with fewer crowds and great views from the hot tubs. Back onboard, it was straight to Starbucks then back to our room to relax for a few minutes and change up for dinner. Tonight, we were dining at one of our favorite Italian specialty restaurants as sea, Onda by Scarpetta, at 7 PM. Norwegian Jewel sails to numerous ports, including Juneau, Ketchikan, Skagway, Seward, Icy Strait Point, and Sitka, Alaska, and Vancouver, British Columbia.
